Privacy Tools are a group of individuals who believe in the right to privacy, which usually means:

The right to be left alone
The right to control who sees information about you
The right to make decisions about your personal life without government intervention

We believe that these rights should underpin services that are provided to us and products that we use.

We also believe that most services and products at best pay lip service to these rights, and almost always do not implement any meaningful controls

Every single product and service should, at a minimum:

Provide client based (end-to-end) encryption

Be unable to access your encryption keys or data

Be clear what will be shared with others

Not change the terms and conditions

Not force you to enter real-world data
